Abstract
The plasma screening effect on the ionization threshold law for double electron escape into the continuum of a residual ion is investigated in weakly coupled plasmas. The screened re-norinalized electron charge due to the electron-electron interaction and the plasma screening effect is obtained as a function of the Debye length. position.and nuclear charge. The screened Wannier exponent for the double ionization cross section is obtained as a function of the Debye length and nuclear charge. It is found that the plasma screening effect significantly reduces the renormalized electron charge. It is also found that the screened Wannier exponent slightly increases with increasing the Debye length.
