텔레비전 뉴스에 나타난 위기 관리 커뮤니케이션에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 텔레비전 뉴스에 나타난 위기 관련 보도를 중심으로 조직의 위기관리 커뮤니케이션에 대해서 살펴보았다. 분석대상은 공영방송사인 KBS 저녁 9시 뉴스를 선정하였으며 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 우선 위기 유형을 살펴보았을 때‘내부에서 의도적으로 발생한 위기’가 다른 위기 유형보다 많이 발견되었으며, 텔레비전 뉴스에서는 기업보다 정부기관과 관련된 위기가 주로 다루어지고 있었다. 또한 위기상황에서 조직은 대변인보다는 조직의 간부를 통해 위기를 관리하고 있었으며, 위기관리 메시지 전략 중에서는 주로 거리두기 전략이 사용되었다. 한편 위기유형, 조직의 성격, 그리고 인터뷰 대상자에 따라 위기관리 메시지 전략은 커다란 차이를 보이고 있음이 분석을 통해 발견되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 기업뿐만 아니라 정부기관도 전략적인 위기관리가 필요하다는 사실을 시사하고 있다. 또한, 조직원들이 다양한 위기관리 메시지 전략을 사용할 수 있도록 사전에 미디어 트레이닝을 실시해야 한다는 필요성도 제기하고 있다.

This study made an effort to investigate crisis communication in the TV news coverage. Specifically, KBS 9 o’clock news was content analyzed with the following results. First of all, ‘internal and intentional crisis’ was found to be the most common type of crisis in the TV news coverage. Second, surprisingly, crisis news related to government outnumbered those of corporate. Third, high ranking managers in the organization were more frequently utilized to handle crisis. Fourth, as for crisis message strategies, the distance strategy was preferred to be used in the crisis situation. Finally, the use of crisis communication strategies was heavily influenced by the type of crisis, the nature of organization under crisis, and the type of interviewees. Along with those key findings, several implications of this study were also mentioned.
