Abstract
The acoustical influence of lighting equipment within a performance space was investigated both in-situ measurement and computer simulation. The absorption coefficients were measured in a reverberation chamber with the two lighting equipment of 1kW and 2kW according to ISO-354. Scaled lighting equipment was reproduced based on the absorption coefficients, and the scattering and the diffusion coefficients were measured with 1:10 scale model. In-situ measurements were carried out in a real hall to validate the practicality of scale model. From the field measurements, the influence of acoustical parameters of RT, EDT, G, and C80 from lighting equipment was measured. Additionally, a computer simulation was employed to identify the acoustic properties of the lighting equipment with respect to the occupation of volume, height and location. As a result, it was derived that lighting equipment had absorption characteristics in mid-frequency and influenced the acoustical properties.
