예술강사를 활용한 자유학기제 문화예술교육에 관한 교사의 인식과 요구에 관한 기초 연구

Abstract

자유학기제는 미래 사회에 요구되는 창의적인 인재를 육성하기 위한 현 정부 교육개혁의 핵심 국정과제로서 학교 안에서 행복 교육을 구현하고 학생들의 꿈과 끼를 살리고자 하는 목적으로 도입되었다. 본 연구는 자유학기 동안에 문화예술교육이 중심이 될 때 학교를 역동적으로 변화시키고 학생들이 경험하는 학교 안 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 기회가 될 수 있다는 전제에서 출발하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자유학기제의 정책적 배경과 학교문화예술교육의 의미를 고찰하고, 자유학기제 운영 경험을 가지고 있는 부천 지역 교사와 예술강사를 대상으로 집단심층면접과 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이를 토대로 학교문화예술교육 및 예술강사 지원사업의 방향을 새롭게 설정하고 중장기적인 전략을 수립하여 지속적이고 안정적인 지원 방안을 마련할 수 있는 방향을 도출하였다. 연구 결과 향후 자유학기제를 위한 학교문화예술교육의 방향을 네트워크 중심 그리고 역량 강화 중심으로 제안하였다. 본 연구는 자유학기제라는 새로운 과제를 수행함에 있어 학교 현장과 문화예술교육 정책이 상호 이해에 기반을 둠으로써 예술교육에의 기회로 발전할 수 있도록 하는 기초 자료를 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있을 것이다. Free Learning Semester is the government’s primary policy that aims at reforming school curriculum and learning in general. It has been introduced for the purpose of fostering creativity and happiness in schools by supporting students’ visions and potential abilities. This study is founded on the premise that Free Learning Semester can be an opportunity to transform schools as a dynamic learning site and to improve students’ schooling experiences by placing arts and culture education at the center of Free Learning Semester programs. In the literature review the background of the Free Learning Semester policy and the meaning of in-school arts and culture education were examined in order to shed light on the transformative approach of arts and culture education to schooling. Then this study investigated the teachers’ perception and needs for arts and culture education and artist teachers in Free Learning Semester by incorporating focus group interview and survey. As a result this study analyzed the strength and weakness of arts and culture education in the context of Free Learning Semester, and proposed the future direction of running arts and culture education programs using artist teachers.
