데님 소재와 조각보 모티프를 활용한 생활한복 디자인

Abstract

생활한복은 기존의 한복을 재해석하기 시작하면서 착용자의 용도에 따라 편리하고 활동성 있게 변형되고 있다. 이러한 생활한복의 등장은 불편하고 착용이 어려운 전통복식을 개선하는 방향으로 우리 전통 복식에 대한 접근을 쉽게 도와주기도 한다. 최근 젊은 세대와 세계인들 사이에서 불고 있는 한복입기 열풍은 한복을 알리는 문화의 시작이 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 한복 열풍의 트렌드에 맞춰 청년 문화를 대표하는 데님 소재와 우리나라 전통 조각보 모티프를 활용하여 전통과 현대, 과거와 현대를 융합한 개념의 생활한복 디자인을 전개 개발하는데 있다. 남녀노소가 즐기는 데님과 전통 조각보 모티프의 융합 패턴을 활용한 생활한복은 고부가가치의 고유한 개성을 창출할 수 의복이 될 것이며 생활한복의 영역을 새롭게 해석하고 제안하고 다양한 방향성을 제안할 수 있으리라 기대한다. 연구 방법으로 생활한복과 데님, 조각보에 대한 자료 조사를 하였으며, 전통과 현대, 과거와 현재의 의미를 담은 생활한복 디자인을 전개 제작하였다. 청년 문화의 상징인 데님은 활동성과 기능성, 젊음을 상징하는 소재로, 이러한 데님 소재의 다양한 염색 효과와 워싱 효과를 활용하여 경쾌하며 명확한 구성의 미를 가진 우리나라 전통 조각보 문양을 활용하였으며 조각보 패턴의 원단을 제작하여 생활한복에 적용하였다. 생활한복의 디자인은 데님과 조각보의 상징적 이미지를 포함한 ‘복(福)을 기원하다’의 컨셉으로, 여인들이 가족의 복을 기원하는 주술적 의미를 담아 복을 비는 염원이 복을 쌓아둔다는 의미를 강조하였다. 작품의 아이템은 전통 남성복 철릭의 형태를 활용한 원피스, 활옷의 형태를 응용한 코트, 배자와 전통 남성 바지 형태인 사폭바지의 디자인을 활용한 투피스, 두루마기 형 코트 등의 여성복 4점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 작품 제작 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조각보의 문양은 다남, 화목, 다복, 장수 등 기원하는 문양들로 데님 소재와 결합하여 생활한복 디자인에 사용한 과거와 현재의 결합, 동서양 문화의 조화를 상징하고 전통 이미지에 현대적 감각을 표현하면서 생활 속에 활용될 수 있도록 현대적 감각으로 재구성되었음을 확인 하였다. 둘째, 데님 소재와 우리나라 전통 조각보 이미지의 조합은 새로운 소재, 패턴의 개발의 결과로 나타났다. 특히 데님 소재의 염색과 워싱 처리에 의한 다양한 색감과 문양들은 조각보 패턴과 현대적인 감각의 조합은 물론 데님 소재의 실용성을 더하여 재구성하였다. 셋째, 데님 소재는 소재 시장에서 버려질 수 있는 다양한 스와치의 자투리 원단 및 재활용 소재를 활용하였으며 최근 중요한 트렌드 키워드인 지속가능한 디자인의 업 사이클 디자인으로 전개할 수 있었으며, 사회적 윤리를 이행하고자 하는데 의의를 두고자 하였다. 넷째, 데님 소재의 작은 조각 원단을 이어서 완성하는 데님 조각보 작업은 수공에 작업으로 쉽지 않았으나, 새로운 고부가가치 패션으로서 제안될 수 있었으며 현대적인 새로운 이미지의 생활한복을 만들 수 있었다. 데님 조각보는 형식에 얽매이지 않는 질서가 없는 것 같으나, 그 안에 계획된 질서를 가지고 데님 소재의 다양한 염색 워싱 가공에서 느껴지는 강약을 주었으며 배열 안의 구성 양식들로 하여금 현대적인 조형미를 발견 할 수 있었다. 우리나라 생활한복에 데님 소재와 전통 조각보를 활용한 본 연구에서는 생활한복의 디자인의 새로운 전개 가능성이 무한하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 과거 여성들의 문화였던 조각보 이어붙이기는 가족들의 장수와 복을 기원하는 문화는 물론, 자투리를 활용한 업 사이클 트렌드와 만남으로 사회적 패션으로 효과를 가져 올 수 있었으며, 이러한 연구들이 지속되어 생활한복의 일상화는 물론 K-패션으로 세계화 확대에 기여되기를 기대한다.; Living hanbok is becoming more comfortable and practical depending on the purpose of wearers by reinterpreting the existing hanbok. Such emergence of living hanbok has improved the Korean traditional dress that is uncomfortable and difficult to wear while making it more easily approachable. Recently the hanbok-wearing fever among the young generation and foreigners all over the world has become the beginning of spreading hanbok. The purpose of this study is to suggest the new, various directions of living hanbok and has proposed the living hanbok design that has integrated the tradition and contemporary as well as the past and present with the denim material represents the youth culture, by using the motif of Korean Jogakbo. Living hanbok using the convergence patterns of denimand traditional Jogakbo motif is expected to become clothes that can generate the high value-added, unique individuality. For research method, the data on living hanbok, denim, and Jogakbo were surveyed to develop and produce a living hanbok design that has the meaning of tradition aland contemporary, pastand present. Denim is a material symbolizing activity, functionality, and youthfulness as the symbol of youth culture. By using various dyeing effect sand washing effects of denim, this study produced fabric with traditional Korean Jogakbo motif that has the beauty of cheerful and clear composition and applied them to living hanbok. The development of living hanbok design emphasized the meaning that longing for accumulation of good fortunes, with a magical meaning that women pray and wish for their family’s fortune by using a concept of ‘wishing for fortune’ including the symbolic image of denimand Jogakbo. The study used 4 items including a one-piece dress that used the form of cheollick (a traditional military uniform worn by men during Chosun Dynasty), a coat applying the form of hwarot, a two-piece dress using the designs of waist coat and sapok pants, a form of men’s pants, as well as a women’s durumagi­-shaped (traditional Korean overcoat). The production results of this study are as follows. First, Jogakbo motif consisted of patterns yearning for harmony, great fortune, longevity, and many children, and the living hanbok design integrated with the denim material symbolized the convergence of the past and present and the harmony of the eastern and western cultures. The study could verify that the living hanbok design was recreated in a contemporary sense to be used in everyday by expressing the contemporary senses in a traditional image. Second, the incorporation of denim materialand Korean traditional Jogakbo image appeared to be the result of the development of new material and patterns. Especially, various colors and patterns by the dyeing and washing of denim have been recreated through the combination of contemporary senses, Jogakbo patterns, and the practicality of denim. Third, leftover fabric pieces and recycled materials of various swatch that can be abandoned by the material market were used for denim. This study could also develop the living hanbok design as a sustainable design through upcycling, an important social trend, and sought to put emphasis on carrying out socio-ethical responsibilities. Fourth, denim Jogakbo work, which is connected by small pieces of denim material, used to be difficult as a manual, handicraft work, but it could be proposed as a new high value-added fashion and generate contemporary living hanbok with a new image. Although denim Jogakbo does not seem to be orderly or conform to a format, this study gave the strength and weakness of various dyeing and washing of denim material using its planned order and rules. In addition, the study could discover its contemporary aesthetics through its compositions and styles in its arrangement. This study, which applied denim materialand traditional Jogakbo on Korean living hanbok, showed living hanbok has infinite potential to develop new designs. Jogakbo connecting, which used to be past women’s culture, could bring social effects as a fashion through upcycle trend using leftover clothes pieces as well as the culture of wishing for the good fortune and longevity of family. It is hoped that more research on living hanbok is conducted to make it a more everyday outfit and contribute to its globalization as a K-fashion.
