사회통합을 위한 다문화 미술교육의 개념에 관한 기초 연구

Abstract

세계화 시대 사회통합과 다양성의 문제는 우리 사회 안에서도 중요한 교육적 어젠다가 되었다. 그 가운데 사회통합과 다문화교육에 관한 정책과 선행 연구들은 점차 제도적, 정책적 차원의 논의에서 인문학적인 차원으로 확장되면서 서로 다른 인간들이 차이를 극복하고 공존할 수 있는 방안을 다각도로 모색하는 데까지 이르고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 사회 구성원의 자발적 사회통합의 기반을 마련하기 위한 미술교육의 가치와 개념을 명료화하는 데에 목적을 두었다. 먼저 사회통합과 관련된 학술적 동향과 정책적 방향을 고찰하여 한국의 다문화 상황에 적절한 사회통합의 개념과 성격을 탐색하였다. 또한 다문화교육 및 다문화 미술교육의 선행연구들의 방향을 고찰하고 그 안에서 새롭게 강조되고 주목하여야 할 다문화 미술교육의 핵심 내용을 논의하였다. 이를 토대로 사회통합을 위한 다문화 미술교육의 방향을 설정하고, 이를 교육하기 위한 구체적인 내용과 방법을 설정하는 데에 활용될 수 있는 개념적 틀을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 사회통합의 맥락에서 다문화 미술교육의 이론적 타당성을 확보하고 연계성 있는 교육 활동을 가능하게 하는 기반을 마련하는 것으로 연구의 범위를 제한하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 실제적인 다문화 미술교육 프로그램 개발을 안내하는 방향과 핵심 개념을 제공하는 기초 연구로서 의의를 가진다. In the era of globalization, the issues of social integration and diversity have come a primary educational agenda in our society. The focus of the researches and policies on social integration and multicultural education have expanded to the area of humanities in search for ways to co-exist beyond differences. In this respect, this research aims at clarifying the values and concepts of art education that would provide the foundation of social integration. The literature review discusses on the direction of the discourses and policies in order to explore the meaning of social integration in Korean context. In addition, the researches on multicultural education and multicultural art education are surveyed to shed light on the key concepts of art education that require further emphasis at this moment. Based on these theoretical discussion, this study proposes the direction of multicultural art education for social integration and the framework that would guide the specific contents and methods of multicultural art education. The significance of this study can be found in that it provides justification for the value of art education in globalized society.
