- Abstract
- A novel circuit of a DC-to-DC converter for the battery charger of telecommunication equipment is proposed. The circuit is based on a half-bridge converter, in which a series resonance circuit and a small saturable inductor are employed. In this converter, the series resonance circuit compensates the voltage drop due to the leakage inductance of the transformer and the small saturable inductor removes the switching noise and switching losses by the impulse charging and discharging of the parasitic capacitance in the switches. The complete operating principle and operational mode analysis of the proposed converter are provided. And the experimental results of a 5 kW converter operating at 80 kHz with 50 V output and 200 VAC input are presented and discussed. A rectifier system with 50 V/1600 A output capacity, which is developed by paralleling 16 rectifier modules, is shown at the end of this paper.
