신기술 도입의 인지적 긍정 효과가 직무 만족과 성과에 미치는 영향 : 항공사 승무원을 대상으로

Abstract

최근 개인 소유의 디바이스인 스마트폰, Tablet PC 등을 직무에 도입하면 업무 성과가 향상된다는 연구가 의료, 교육기관 종사자들을 중심으로 많이 진행되었다. 이에 글로벌 항공사들도 경쟁 항공사와 차별화된 서비스를 제공하고자 많은 예산을 들여 객실 승무원에게 개인용 태블릿 PC를 지급하고 있다. 하지만 항공산업에서 객실 승무원을 대상으로 신기술을 업무에 도입하였을 때 어떠한 측면이 직무 만족에 도움이 될 것인지에 관한 연구는 전무하기 때문에 이를 검증하고자 실증적 연구를 실시하였다. 이에 본 연구는 객실 승무원의 업무에 신기술 도입으로 태블릿 PC를 사용하여 얻게 되는 직무 만족에 대한 선행변수 및 후행변수 간의 영향 관계를 분석하였다. 이론적 고찰 및 사전 조사를 실시하여 ‘인지적 긍정 효과 5가지: (1) 비행 준비 간소화, (2) 편리성, (3) 환경 지속가능성, (4) 업무 효율성, (5) 프라이드’ 및 ‘후행변수 3가지: (1) 팀 성과, (2) 조직 몰입, (3) 이직 의도’를 핵심 요인으로 하여 연구모형을 설정하였다. 연구 대상은 국내항공사에서 태블릿 PC를 업무에 도입한 A 항공사의 현직 객실 승무원으로 진행하였으며, 총 208부의 유효한 설문을 바탕으로 통계 분석자료에 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 신기술 도입의 인지적 긍정 효과에 대한 선행변수 중 업무 효율성, 편리성, 환경 지속가능성, 프라이드 순으로 직무 만족에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 비행 준비 간소화는 직무 만족에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 객실 승무원의 업무에 신기술 도입에 관한 긍정적 요인을 밝히는 첫 번째 연구로 항공경영학과 정보통신기술(IT)을 융합한 연구라는 점에 의의가 있다. 또한, 신기술 도입의 일환으로 태블릿 PC를 객실 승무원의 업무에 사용하고자 하는 다른 항공사에도 실무적 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

핵심용어 : 객실 승무원 업무의 신기술 도입, 태블릿 PC, 비행 준비 간소화, 편리성, 환경 지속가능성, 업무 효율성, 프라이드; Recently, the existing studies in medical industry and education field found that individual employee’s device use(such as smart-phone, Tablet PC etc) can enhance job performance. Following this trend, global airline companies invest a large amount of budget in order to provided better service for passengers. However, previous study examined the impact of flight attendant’s technology usage can enhance job satisfaction. Thus, this study examined the causal relationship between tablet PC use benefit, job performance, and its consequences. Based on a literature review, five benefits of technology use were derived: (1) simplification of flight preparation, (2) convenience, (3) ecological sustainability, (4) work-efficiency, (5) pride. Also, three consequences of job satisfaction were derived: (1) team performance, (2) organizational commitment, (3) turnover intention. An empirical data for this study was collected from 208 flight attendants from A airline company, which adapted tablet PC for their employees.

Data analysis results revealed that work-efficiency, convenience, ecological sustainability, and pride had a significant and positive impact on job satisfaction, in regular sequence. However, simplification of flight preparation did not have a significant impact on job satisfaction. This study is the first approach which investigated the benefits of technology use in the airline industry. Also, this research is the convergence of the airline management and information technology(IT). The findings of this study can provide managerial implications for the airline companies which attempt to newly adopt tablet PC into flight attendants’ task.
