Abstract
The investigations from literatures and numerical analysis have shown that the rip-off failure of plated RC beams may occur due to shear and normal stress concentrations on the ends of plate. Thus, The analytical model on the premature failure should consider stress concentrations on the ends of plate. In this study, on the basis of proposed model of stresses at interface concrete/plate, the rip-off failure criterion is proposed. The proposed theory agrees with test results in case of LJLP ^ 0.4, but underestimates the test results in LJLP ^ 0.4. This is due to increasing difference between interfacial stresses and stresses in fracture area of strengthened RC beam, as LJLp becomes large
