Abstract
This paper describes the conceptual development and idea-verification of a subminiature portable cooler which dose not necessitate the any pre-cooling, nor any external energy supply. The basic principle of the cooling mechanism in the portable cooler is the vaporization of the water and subsequent cooling due to the evaporative latent heat loss. In this work, the vaporization of the water is stimulated by the desiccant to improve the cooling performance. The evaporative cooling process caused by the desiccant was modeled and analyzed considering the absorption characteristics of the desiccant. In addition, the experiment was performed and the experimental result was compared with the analysis.
