Predictive VQ-PVQ of Wideband Speech Line Spectral Frequencies

Abstract

The vector quantization - pyramid vector quantization (VQ-PVQ) is presented to quantize the LPC parameter of wideband speech codec. Also both predictive structure and safety-net concept are combined into VQ-PVQ to develop the predictive VQ-PVQ. The performance is compared to the LPC vector quantizers used in the AMR-WB (ITU-T G.722.2), demonstrating reduction in spectral distortion and reduction in encoding memory.
