Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate Developmental Stages of Connective Expressions in Utterances of Korean Students. Korean connective expressions are classified into three types; the connective endings, the idiomatical connective expressions and connective adverbs. Firstly, connective endings such as ‘-면, -는데, -게, -어서' etc are appeared very frequently in early stage. While the connective endings such as ‘-건, -래도, -게끔, -ㄹ망정’ etc are appeared later and less than the formers. Secondly the idiomatical connective expressions such as ‘-ㄴ 다음에, ~에 대해서, -기 전에, -고 나서, -기 위해서, -기 때문’ etc are appeared frequently in early stage, on the other hand the expressions such as ‘~를 비롯하여, ~에 한해서, -ㄴ데도 불구하고, -는 김에’ etc are appeared rarely and later. Thirdly, the connective adverbs such as ‘그런데, 또, 그래서, 그리고, 그래가지고, 그러면, 그러니까’ etc are appeared frequently in early stage, while the adverbs ‘이래저래, 곧, 또한, 소위, 하기야, 더구나, 반면에’ etc are appeared later and rarely. Meantime, It is possible that the expressions not appeared in utterances of Korean students are acquisited in far later stage. We expect that the results of this study might be applied to the estimation of the language competence of Korean students.
