Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to reveal the phonetic characteristics of the Korean language, which appear in the angry speech of speakers in their twenties who speak standard language, focusing on the accents and the speech rate. By comparing anger speech-acts and expressionless speech-acts, this research quantifies the general characteristics of anger speech-acts as voice-raising, shouting and rapid speech rate while verifying that the overall slope of speech and speech rate can significantly classify the quality of anger. In this paper, 20 men and women in their 20s who were born and lived in two or more generations in the Seoul metropolitan area were required to express emotional and emotionless sentences through experimental design. After that, representative data were selected by listening evaluation, normalized and statistically analyzed, and then divided into gender and emotion to perform independent sample T-test. As a result of the experiment, the overall utterance length was longer in females than in males, and the expressionless was longer than the anger. The overall utterance slope was greater in females than in males. In all women's utterances and men's proposing·promise speech-acts, anger utterances had a greater slope value than non-expression, while men's command speech-acts showed showed the opposite result. At the speech rate, men were faster than women, and anger was faster than non-expression. In the comparison between genders, the difference in gender was significant in the overall length, the overall slope, and the speech rate in the anger speech of the command speech-acts. Conversely, the anger speech in the proposing speech-acts was not significant. Differences between genders were significant only in the total slope of the anger speech in the promise speech-acts, but not in the overall length and speech rate. In the comparison between emotions, in the case of command line, there was no significant difference in both the overall length, the overall slope, and the speech rate in both women and men. In the case of proposing speech-acts, both women and men had significant differences in overall length and speech rate. In the case of promise speech-acts, all differences were significant for women, whereas all differences were not significant for men.
