모바일 압축 데이터 관리 시스템을 위한 효율적인 데이터 파일 관리 기법

Abstract

휴대용 정보기기는 정보의 디지털화로 인해 많아지고 있는 디지털 정보를 처리 및 저장해야 되는 상황이 되었다. 따라서 휴대용 정보기기에서는 무수한 디지털 정보를 효과적으로 관리하기 위해 모바일 DBMS를 사용하게 되었고, 저장장치로는 플래시 메모리를 사용하고 있다. 플래시 메모리는 일반 디스크보다 고비용이기 때문에 데이터를 보다 효율적으로 저장하기 위하여 압축 데이터 관리 시스템(CDMS)과 같은 압축을 사용한 관리도 사용되고 있다. 하지만 압축을 사용하여 저장 공간을 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 CDMS의 연구는 데이터베이스 파일 크기를 고정하여 관리, 데이터베이스 파일에서 발생하는 Free Page를 고려하지 않는 등 문제점이 있어서 실제사용에 있어서는 실용적이지 못하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 CDMS를 보완하여 데이터베이스 파일을 재구성한 후 사용되어지지 않는 공간을 확보하고, 또한 데이터베이스 파일의 크기를 동적으로 변환하는 CDMS-Compactor를 제안한다. 또한 실험을 통해 제안한 CDMS-Compactor를 검증하고 성능을 확인한다.; Recently, the mobile device should support the processing of enormous data because of the digitalization. For this reason, the mobile device is required to adopt mobile DBMS which can manage the data efficiently, and flash memory is usually used as a secondary storage. The data compression technique can be used to store the enormous data because the flash memory is more expensive than the HDD. In our previous study the CDMS was proposed to manage the compressed data efficiently in the mobile device. However, some problems are discovered regarding the occurrence of Free Page or the fact that the size of DB file does not decrease even though the data is decreased. To handle this problem, we propose the CDMS-Compactor that arranges the data file appropriately and removes the free space in the DB file. The Compactor also provides the mechanism that changes the data file size dynamically. We evaluate the performance of the CDMS-Compactor through the experiments in this paper.
