The optical and electronic properties of novel organic, natural, photoactive, curcumin derived molecules (BCMoxo and BCtCM) and their interactions with zinc oxide nanocrystals of about 100-150 nm, synthesized through feasible hydrolysis route, have been explored as a potential sensitizer in the UV-Vis region from their fast quenching activity through photoluminescence spectroscopy. The curcumin boron complex molecules modified with anchor groups (BCtCM) provide surface attachment and strong absorption rather than the dye molecules without anchor groups (BCMoxo) in the UV-Vis region. Photoactive, eco-friendly, high molar extinction coefficient curcumin derived dyes (BCMoxo and BCtCM) have been explored for ZnO based dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSCs) applications. The boron complex curcumin dyes modified with dicarboxylic anchor groups (BCtCM) provided surface attachment and strong absorption in the UV-Vis region than the dye molecule without anchor groups (BCMoxo). Photoanodes primed with poly-dispersive zinc oxide nanoparticles (??80 to 50 nm) specifically devised for these dyes and optimized for critical thickness, sensitization time and concentration using a solvent-free ionic electrolyte achieved a maximum current density of 1.66 mA under AM 1.5 sunlight conditions at 80 mW/cm2 irradiation. The results obtained with these curcumin derived dyes indicate that a successful conversion of visible light into electricity was achieved by using natural derived photoactive molecules as photo-sensitizer in DSSCs. The anchoring groups were used Boric acid, Salicylic acid, 4-Hydroxyisophtahalic acid and 5-formylsalicylic acid. Donor groups used methylation where is simple and they synthesized. This reaction the biggest advantage is short step reaction which is the possibility anyone of doing easily. Results show that, the effective time for the diffusion of the dye molecule on the TiO2 matrix. Thereafter, the Jsc and ?? gradually incresed as shown , by increasing donor and conjugation bond.
