Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate how learning motivation affects the satisfaction of training and employment service and its performance in participants in government-supported job skill development program of clothing industry, in order to provide fundamental data for developing the training program for fostering professionals, relieving labor shortage in clothing industry. 180 copies of questionnaire were analyzed which was questioned to the trainees in Seoul and Gyonggi province between September and October 2016 by SPSSWIN 21.0 program using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Most of trainees were low-income senior citizens in their 40s and 50s. They were divided into highly educated or low-educated. The results of the research show as follow: when the trainees were motivated by the goals of getting a certificate or a job, employment service satisfaction levels were influenced meaningfully. Therefore, the applicants who have firm plan to get a job rather than hobbies or leisure should be selected for the training program. Secondly, educational satisfaction levels and occupational ability development recorded high score. Therefore, it is important to strengthen instructors' competency. Instructors are required to have onsite experience so that they could provide authentic education that can be applied to work field. The government should establish a compulsory training session for the trainers and an incentive program accordingly so that they could catch up with up-to-date technology and trend. Third, the research shows that supporting business startup and job placement is important. Follow-up management system should be provided in cooperation with relevant institutions of employment and business startup. Either outsourcing or placement of professional advisor is needed. The reasons of unemployment are lack of occupational competency, certificate and self-confidence. It shows not only motivation but also self-confidence count. Therefore various support programs should be provided including recruiting seminar, group counseling and occupation awareness training. Fourth, there was a request of retraining due to the short period of training session. Understanding level of the program also depend on their educational background. Accordingly the educational institute should develop tailored learning program on the basis of the age and the level of learning ability. I hope this study to improve clothing manufacturing skill by raising the quality of the education training, contribute to address labor shortage as the result of increasing employment opportunities, and use it as a useful guide for establishing government education policy.
