Abstract
Solid-supported 1,2-bis(10,12-tricosadiynoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DiynePC) was used as a substrate for spontaneous formation of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) by direction deposition of the metal onto the DiynePC monolayer. The AuNP-modified DiynePC sensor exhibited a strong catalytic activity for non-enzymatic sensing of H2O2 with a sensitivity of 193 mu A mM(-1)cm(-2) and limit of detection of 6.8 mu M. The AuNP-modified DiynePC sensor also exhibited good selectivity and reproducibility. This work demonstrates that the solid supported DiynePC monolayer can be used to quickly screen and identify candidate catalyst materials for non-enzymatic sensing of H2O2 (or other analytes such as glucose) through spontaneous formation of metal nanoparticles.
