표착 조선인의 신원 확인 및 류큐왕국의 대응 - 1733년 케라마섬 표착의 경우 -

Abstract

This paper uncovers unprecedented historical evidence concerning the identities and experiences of 11 Chosun castaways who drifted onto the shores of Kerama Island of the Ryukyu Kingdom in 1733. Through a detailed examination of the treatment they received in the Ryukyu Kingdom at that time, this paper also broaches the possibility of their intentional drift from China to Chosun, the passage they might have undertaken, and their viable route thereafter. 1733년 지금의 오키나와의 게라마섬에 표착한 조선 표류민의 표착경위, 소지품, 배의 상태 등 구체적인 실상을 류큐왕국의 공식문서인 류큐왕국 평정소문서를 분석하여 밝혔다. 특히 11인 승선 전원의 신원을 파악한 점이 논문의 성과라고 볼 수 있다. 그리고 이들에 대한 류큐왕국의 대응을 다양한 측면에서 조사하였다. 체재장소, 표류민에게 대한 대우, 지급물품을 구체적으로 확인하였고 이들이 어떠한 경로를 통하여 본국으로 송환되었는 지 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 이들의 표류가 고의에 의하였을 가능성에 대하여도 규명하고자 하였다.
