A formal synthesis of komaroviquinone has been accomplished by utilizing the Pt-catalyzed hydrative cyclization of an enynal that was easily prepared in a convergent manner. The Pt-catalyzed hydrative cyclization reaction afforded the corresponding tricyclic product, which was utilized in the synthesis of a known precursor that led to the formation of komaroviquinone through an additional four-step synthesis.en_US
