Abstract
The purpose of this study is to propose a method of structural optimization scheme based on the artificial bee colonyalgorithm (ABCA). Structural shape optimization is performed using boundary parameterization. In other words, since shapeoptimization aims to optimize the boundary of a structure, the discrete variable that defines the boundary of a structure isintroduced. In order to verify the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed scheme, the optimized shapes andconvergence rates are compared with those of the bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) method. It canbe found that the convergence rate of this scheme is much faster than that of the BESO method.
