Abstract

There was the trial of production of a periodical newsreel even in colony Chosun in the 1940s. For example, ˂Chosun news(조선뉴스)˃ was made from the Chosun cultural film association(조선문화영화협회) in 1941. After all the film shrines located in Chosun in September, 1942 were unified by Corporation Chosun film-making incorporated company(사단법인 조선영화제작주식회사), ˂Chosun time signal(조선시보)˃ started producing from December. ˂Chosun time signal˃ was a newsreel only those days in colonial Chosun. And in Chosun, it was the newsreel by which periodical production was realized first. ˂Chosun time signal˃ was the same as ˂Japan news˃ in terms of the composition, form, and contents. However, as for ˂Japan news˃, while targeting Asia area, ˂Chosun time signal˃ targeted the Korean Peninsula. Moreover, while ˂Japan news˃ was exhibited at once stably at one week, ˂Chosun time signal˃ was only one time in one month. After all, after 1944, the newsreel in colony Chosun came to be concentrated on ˂Japan news˃.
