Abstract
This paper proposes a feedforward control algorithm for the air system of passenger car diesel engines. The mass air flow (MAF) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) are manipulated by the EGR and VGT. The EGR and VGT system have non-linear and cross-coupled multi-input-multi-output characteristics. These characteristics cause challenges in transient control performance of the air system. In order to compensate the non-linearity and cross-coupled dynamics, we proposed an air system model based EGR and VGT feedforward control algorithm. The validation result shows that the proposed control algorithm represents appropriate control performance of the air system under transient operation.
