Abstract
The present study has numerically investigated the combustion processes and flame dynamics in the porous ceramic burner. To analyze the multi-dimensionality effects on laminar flame fields with the multiple pore structures, the multi-dimensional approach together with the global and detailed chemistry has been employed to model the porous honey burner. Computations are made for two geometric configurations. The example case deals with the simple geometry to simulate a honeycomb burner, in which a ceramic is penetrated by many small, straight, nonconnecting passages. The second example case describes the burner geometry which consists of many small parallel plates aligned with the flow direction. Special emphasis is given to the effects of material properties and pore size on the flame structure in the honeycomb burner. Numerical results indicated that the present approach realistically predicts the essential features of the porous honey burner in terms of the precise flame structure and flame dynamics.
