Abstract
This paper proposes the level set based design optimization of magnetic actuator using the adaptive remeshing technique. To get the clear boundary of optimal configuration|the level set method is employed. In the conventional level set based optimization|the level set boundary depends on the initial mesh. However|since the electromagnetic force for the actuator design is calculated by integrating the Maxwell's stress tensor over the exterior surfaces of the design domain|the adaptive remeshing technique is employed to place nodes on the surfaces. During optimization process|the finite element mesh is re-generated based on the values of the level set function at each node on the boundary. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method|the design example of C-core actuator is performed.
