Abstract
In multi-story buildings, floor impact sound is the most annoyed noise. There is regulation for floor structure in order to satisfy the criteria for floor impact noise based on the laboratory measurement. However, there is a gap of sound insulation performance between in-situ and laboratory measurement results. Therefore, it is difficult to satisfy a comfortable environment especially in the pre-constructed multi-story buildings. The EN 12354-2 is sound insulation performance evaluation and prediction method for floor impact sound that include both direct and flanking path. This method can be considered as an substitute method for predicting in-situ sound insulation performance from laboratory measurement results, however the structure characteristics of multi-story buildings in Korea should be considered in order to apply the prediction model properly.
