dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of two-stage injection on combustion performance and NOx reduction characteristics in a four cylinder diesel engine. The experiment was carried out under various first injection quantity and EGR rate at constant engine speed, load condition. In addition, the combustion and emission results were compared with the case of applied single injection timing at TDC. The experimental results show that NOx emissions of two-stage combustion strategy were clearly reduced, however, fuel consumption was slightly increased compared with single fuel injection. Also, soot emissions showed similar trends except of the 20% EGR rate.en_US
