시니어 벤처기업의 경영특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 국내 시니어 벤처기업을 대상으로 그들의 경영특성을 파악하고자 진행되었다. 최근 우리나라의 급속한 고령화 추세와 조기퇴직의 사회현상은 청년실업과 더불어 사회경제전반에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 이와 더불어 약 712만 명의 베이비붐 세대가 본격적인 퇴직연령대에 진입하면서 정년에 따른 경제적인 위협에 직면한 시니어 세대의 구직난이 본격화되고, 창업에 대한 참여 및 관심이 점차 높아지고 있다. 이러한 환경변화에 직면하여, 인구통계학적 자료를 바탕으로 시니어 연령층의 창업에 대한 실증연구가 필요한 시점이다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 개별 성공사례에 국한된 단순한 서술적 연구에서 벗어나, 대규모 데이터를 활용하여 시니어 벤처기업의 특징을 정확히 파악하여 앞으로 진행될 사회 변화에 적극적으로 대응할 수 있는 시사점을 제공해 주고자 하였다. 본 연구는 크게 두 단계로 진행되었다. 우선 시니어 벤처기업의 일반적인 특성을 파악하여 시니어 벤처기업을 정의하고 그들의 주요 특징을 파악하였다. 다음으로 시니어 벤처기업에 대한 기존의 연구를 바탕으로 가설을 설정하여 이들을 그에 대응하는 청년층 벤처기업과 비교해 보았다. 이러한 가설 검증을 통하여 시니어 벤처기업만이 가지는 차별적 속성들을 밝히고 있다. 본 연구를 통하여 시니어 벤처기업의 고유한 특성을 밝히고, 이들의 경제활동을 활성화 시킬 수 있는 여러 시사점을 찾는데 연구의 주목적이 있다. Korea has underwent an unprecedented fast social transition to the aging society. On top of this fast transition to the aging society, ``baby-boomers`` in Korea are approaching to their retirement. This social transition casts a huge concern over sustainable economic growth in Korea. Economic activity generated by seniors are expected to play a major role in solving the challenges. Current research, however, approached this issue only through descriptive case study, mostly explaining a success ``story`` of a particular case. Under this backdrop, we tried to find a major characteristics of senior ventures in Korea. As the first research of this kine, we used a massive dataset to properly represent Korean senior ventures. This research has approached in two part: first we analyzed and showed key features of Koran senior ventures. In addition, we selected a matching sample of more conventional ventures (venture by youth) and compared these two groups. This research is expected to contribute, empirically, to the policy issues concerning fast transition to the aging society, and theoretically, to our understanding on value creation by seniors
