Abstract
In a vacuum kinetic spraying system, plasticity and fragmentation have been considered as the main deposition mechanisms because the deposited layer exhibits a flattened morphology with nanosized grains. In this research, Al2O3 film was fabricated, and the microstructure was analyzed using Auto-dyn simulation to investigate the deposition mechanism. Plasticity was generated in a ceramic particle by shock loading, and the particle impact intensity affected the fragmentation behavior and consolidation of a previously deposited layer.
