중국 현대 옥조 불상의 조형 스타일 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 중국 현대 옥조(玉雕) 불상의 변화를 중점적으로 고찰하였다. 중국 현대 옥조 불상은 과거 단일한 사실 스타일을 나타냈으나 소비자의 다양한 소비수요를 만족시키지 못했으나 해당 업계의 발전과 옥조사(玉雕师)들의 끊임없는 탐색을 통해 오늘날 옥조 불상의 조형 스타일은 사실 스타일을 중심에서 벗어나미니멀리즘, 복고, 카툰 등 각종 스타일이 공존하는 상태로 발전하였다. 본 연구는 신중국 건국부터 오늘날까지 70여 년 동안 창작된 옥조 불상을 대상으로 하고, 문헌 연구를 통해 옥조 불상의 발전 맥락을 정리하는 동시에 현지 조사를 통해 옥조 불상의 창작 현황을 고찰하였다. 그리고 이를 기초로 대표적인 작품에대한 사례 연구를 통해 현대 중국 옥조 불상에서 각종조형 스타일의 등장은 이미 과거 폐쇄적인 창작 상태에서 벗어나 현대 예술과 융합되었고, 이는 예술품으로 감상자에게 수용되고 있다는 것을 의미한다는 결론을 얻었다. 그리고 중국 현대 옥조 스타일 조형을 중심으로 자세하게 분류한 본 연구는 향후 같은 유형의연구에 충분한 이론 근거를 제공할 수 있다.

This study focuses on the changes of jade carving Buddha statues which presented a single realistic style in the past and could not meet the demand of customers. While with the development of the industry and the exploration of statue styles by jade carvers, jade carving Buddha statues present the character with the realistic style as the mainstream, and various styles flourishing, including simple, retro, and cartoonish styles. The research scope of this study is the jade carving Buddha statues created over 70 years after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The research conclusions are presented by representative statue works based on a literature review on the development of jade carving Buddha statues, and on-site investigations on the current status of the creation of jade carving Buddha statues. The research found that, with the emergence of various modeling styles, the creation of modern Chinese jade carving Buddha statues has broken away from a closed creative state, and has been integrated with modern art forms. The modern jade carving Buddha statues have also been regarded as artworks and accepted by viewers. In addition, this study provides a detailed classification of modern Chinese jade carving styles from the core perspective of shapes, providing an effective theoretical basis for future similar studies.
