Abstract
The present study concerns the applicability of ferronickel slag (FNS) into cementitious material at ternary mix in concrete mix. To ensure this feasibility, the reactivity of FNS-ternary mix in the cement matrix was experimentally observed, while the concrete/mortar performance was simultaneously tested. As a result, it was found that the FNS-ternary mix delayed the hydration process beyond 90 days, thereby slightly lowering a development of the compressive strength, which except this barrier the denser pore structure had driven to more durable concrete. Particularly, the economic and environmental benefit could make it feasible to apply the FNS-ternary mix to in-situ.
