- Abstract
- This study was to examine the differences of some effects between wearing a general glove and wearing a functional glove. The total 24 subjects including 9 professional golfers and 15 amateur golfers were selected for the study. All subjects stroked some balls with driver and 7 iron, alternately wearing both gloves. Then, this study compared and analyzed the differences of the accuracy, distance, back spin, ball speed, head speed, and direction affected on wearing these two gloves. The statistical methods of this study were descriptive analysis and t-test using SPSS/PC Window version 12.0.
This study found that there was significant difference on the effect of back spin between wearing a functional glove(2605rpm) and wearing a general glove(2734.4rpm) using driver. For professional golfers, there was significant difference on the effect of distance between wearing a functional glove(253.1yds) and wearing a general glove(248.7yds) using driver. For amateur golfers, significant difference on the effect of distance between wearing a functional glove(252.8yds) and wearing a general glove(248.6yds) was found. In the measurement of accuracy, there was significant difference between wearing a functional glove(90.13%) and wearing a general glove(82.25%) in both professional and amateur golfers. Using 7 iron, there was significant difference on the effect of distance between wearing a functional glove(170.1yds) and wearing a general glove(167.9yds) in both professional and amateur golfers. In the measurement of accuracy for 7 iron, there was significant difference between wearing a functional glove(88%) and wearing a general glove(65.63%) in both professional and amateur golfers.
In a conclusion, this study supported that wearing a functional glove had significant effects on distance and accuracy with driver and 7 iron.
