The purpose of this study is to suggest psychological characteristics, which appear when superior fencing player displays the best ability in the competition, through subjective experience. Because the subjective experience is unique, depending on individual, the study researched these experiences through in-depth interview. As a study result, it was found that fencing players experienced different psychological characteristics when they displayed the best ability in the competition. The psychological characteristics in the step of competition preparation were analyzed by dividing them into 72 raw data, 9 detail sections and 2 general sections. Those in the step right before competition were analyzed by dividing them into 66 raw data, 8 detail sections and 2 general sections. Those in the step of competition were analyzed by dividing them into 57 raw data, 6 detail sections and 2 general sections. In this way, it is expected that they will be used as the basic data useful for follow-up study on the basis of positive experience theory concerning psychological characteristics of superior fencing players.
