Abstract
icon means that a recognized conception is visualized as an imaged result, which brings to a variety of conclusions according to the theme of idea. In particular, icon or iconography has been used as a religious terminology, which includes religious education to be pious, without the limitation of forming subjects inspired by a religion. It takes culturally or mentally an important role in our contemporaries. Therefore, we can guess the life of our ancestors and their cultural level through the religious and historic relics. As we know, our country has been influenced by Buddhism for a long time. Especially, we can find the vivid Buddhist cultural traces in Silla period, which is caused by actively enhancing relationship with foreign countries, and improving its cultural level and infusing academic recognition as Buddhism culture. Because bul-saris were recognized as bul-sin in that period, they were valuably, beautifully, seriously and impressively decorated with all the artistic skills and techniques. Sari packing enriched with luxurious and aesthetic design has a functional aspect to keep them as well as their symbolic meaning. Moreover, as the bul-saris were variously made by period and environment, it is necessary to study them by shapes about why or how such bul-sari designs were formed. The saris were wrapped with several fold. For example, our ancestors firstly put it in a bottle or container, secondly re-put in a box or small - shaped pagoda. Lastly they sealed it up. Some of the saris were wrapped through many packing processes. contrivance These are represented as sarigu, or sarijangeomgu. In the 7~8th Century, some of the sarijangeomgus designed in unified Silia period have a characteristic mode and formation as well as symbol. Some scholars assert that the sarieomgus are the most valuable things in which all the Buddhism countries can enshrine them. Above all, the sarigi owned by Gameun temple is divided into two boxes, the outside and the inside, which means that the inside of the sarigi is regarded as a territory where Budda is, as well as its seal. It is known that such two fold packing system is unique. As above mentioned, through the traditional packing design that has existed in our history, designers should discover the identity of the expressive mode or cultural shapes that our ancestors have uniquely created. Furthermore, in excessive global competitive societies that the identity between countries has been considered as one of the most important tasks, it is suggested that many package designers should find it out.
