월리스 챈 주얼리에 나타난 중국 전통 문화 요소에 관한 연구

Abstract

중국의 주얼리 디자인 발전은 1987년 개혁개방 이후시작됐다. 이 과정에서 중국 전통문화의 요소를 담은우수한 보석 디자인 작품들이 쏟아져 나왔다. 중국의드문 세계적인 보석 디자이너 월리스의 작품에 중국 전통문화 요소가 많이 포함돼 있다. 전통문화는 한 민족발전의 원동력이며, 문명의 창조력이 있는 곳이다. 현재 월리스 챈에 대한 이론 연구는 대부분 그가 이룩한성과에 집중되어 있고, 작품을 출발점으로 하는 연구가비교적 드물며, 월리스 챈 작품에 표현된 중국 전통문화 요소에 대한 연구는 아직 존재하지 않는다. 따라서본 연구는 시범적인 역할을 통해 향후 월리스 챈에 대한 연구에 참고할 만한 이론 근거를 제공하고자 한다.

사진과 문헌에 분석을 통해 월리스 챈 작품에 나타난 중국 전통문화 요소를 정리하였다. 문헌 연구를 기초로 월리스 챈 작품에서 가장 중국적 특색이 담긴주얼리 작품을 사례로 선정하여, 그의 작품에 표현된중국 전통문화 요소를 분석하였다.

본 연구 결과를 통해 중국의 주얼리 예술은 이미단순하게 서양을 학습하는 초기 단계를 벗어나 이미자주적 창의 능력을 갖추고 있다는 것을 증명하였다.

또한 중국 전통문화 요소를 핵심으로 하는 주얼리 예술 작품은 주얼리 예술가가 세계무대로 충분히 진출할 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다.;China’s jewelry design development began after the reform and opening in 1987. In the process, excellent jewelry design works containing elements of traditional Chinese culture poured out. Wallace Chan’s work, one of China’s few world-class jewelry designers, also includes many elements of traditional Chinese culture.

Traditional culture is the driving force for the development of a nation and is a place where civilization has the creative power. Currently, most of the theoretical research on Wallace Chan is focused on his achievements, and research on the traditional Chinese cultural elements expressed in Wallace Chan’s works is relatively rare. Therefore, this study attempted to provide certain references to future research on Wallace Chan through a pilot role.

Through analysis in photos and literature, the elements of traditional Chinese culture appeared in Wallace Chan’s works were summarized. Based on literature research, jewelry works with the most Chinese characteristics were selected as examples from Wallace Chan’s works, and traditional Chinese cultural elements expressed in his works were analyzed.

Through the results of this study, it was proved that Chinese jewelry art already has the ability to self-create beyond the initial stage of simply learning the West. In addition, jewelry works, which focus on traditional Chinese culture elements, showed that jewelry artists can sufficiently advance to the world stage.
