‘틈새’의 종교학과 상상의 시학: 소전학에 있어 종교·문학·예술

Abstract

소전(素田) 정진홍의 학문세계에서 ‘종교와 문학’ 혹은 ‘종교와 예술’은 종교학의 하위분과로 머물지 않는다. 인식의 논리를 바깥에서부터 껴안으면서 그 틈새의 사이로 상상의 내적 열림을 지향하는 소전 종교학에서 예술과 문학은 결코 단순한 장식일 수 없다. 본 소고는 이와 같은 소전학이 ‘틈새의 종교학과 상상의 시학’이라는 표현으로 응축될 수 있다고 보면서, 거기서 종교, 예술, 문학의 불가결한 얽힘을 읽어내려는 시도이다.

소전학에서 종교와 예술과 문학은 인간의 삶과 세계를 구성하는 세 가지 범주인 이성과감성과 상상, 또는 그것들의 밑그림이자 변주곡이라 할 만한 시간과 공간과 기억, 경험과 고백과 인식, 코기토와 크레도와 레고, 말짓과 몸짓과 글짓, 물음과 해답과 되물음,열림과 닫힘과 되열림, 하늘과 순수와 상상, 망각과 회상과 구원 등의 동심원적 파장으로 끝없이 퍼져나가 마침내 시인의 집에 도달한다. 물론 그 집은 더 이상 우주의 중심이아니다. 변방과 중심이 교차되면서 사라지고 다시 나타나며 허물어지고 다시 지어지기를 무수히 되풀이하는 ‘정직한 열림’의 자리이다. 본 소고의 궁극적인 관심은 이 ‘정직한열림’이 무엇인지를 묻는 물음에 있다.;Sojeon(素田) Chinhong Chung has been pursuing the inner opening of imagination breaking through the various openings with which embraces the logic of noesis from outside. That is why his Religious Studies cannot fail to be deeply interested in literature and art. The main purpose of this essay is to examine the fundamental relationship among religion, literature and art in Sojeon`s learning, especially focusing on ‘Religious Studies of the Aperture’ and ‘Poetics of Imagination’. Religion, literature and art in Sojeon`s learning unboundedly spread out toward not merely reason, emotion and imagination, the three categories for understanding human world, but also time-space-remembrance, experience-confession-cognition, cogito-credo-lego, speaking-acting-writing, question-answer-re·question, open-close-re·open, heaven-pureness-imagining, oblivion-recollection-soteriology, and so on. These categories might finally get to the house of a poet. Still, that house is not the center of the cosmos at all. Rather it must be a place of the so-called ‘honest open-end’. In conclusion, this essay will question the meaning of that ‘honest open-end’.
