세대별 실시간 TV 채널 선호 구조의 차이에 대한 탐색적 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 세대별 실시간 TV 채널 이용의 특성 및 공간적 군집을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 5백 명의 응답자들이 자주 이용하는 실시간 TV 채널을 최대 5개까지 자기 회상 기입 방식을 통해 채널 이용 자료를 수집했다. 주요 연구 결과들은 다음과 같다. 20대부터 40대까지의 응답자들은 비교적 서로 유사한 채널 이용 군집을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이들 세대들의 공통적인 핵심 채널 군집은 지상파 방송 3사 채널 및 JTBC+tvN 등 두 개로 나타났다. 이들을 제외한 다른 채널들은 세대별로 부분적으로 선호도가 다르게 나타났다. 반면, 50대와 60대의 핵심 채널 군집은 20대-40대와는 다른 특성들이 나타났다. 50대 응답자들은 1차원 공간에서는 20대-40대와 마찬가지로 지상파 방송 3사 채널 및 JTBC+tvN 채널이 핵심 채널 군집으로 나타났지만 2차원 공간에서는 지상파 방송 3사 채널 대신에 보도와 종편 등 뉴스 중심 채널 군집이 JTBC+tvN 등의 핵심 채널 군집과 직접 경쟁하는 것으로 나타났다. 60대 응답자들은 기존 세대들과는 완전히 다른 채널 이용 군집 특성이 나타났다. 이들 세대들은 JTBC+tvN 채널 등과 같은 오락 중심 채널들보다 보도 및 종편 채널들을 가장 많이 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. This study examined age group differences in TV channel viewing preferences. Using social survey based on the recall method, it collected the data from 500 viewers. Major results were as follows; firstly, there were similar patterns of channel viewing preferences in their 20s, 30s and 40s. The significant channels in those age groups were three major terrestrial channels including KBS, MBC and SBS, and two top commercial channels such as JTBC and tvN. For age groups in their 50s and 60s were different to those of relatively younger age groups. Their main channels were news and comprehensive programming channels, and three terrestrial channels. More specifically, channel viewing preference in their 60s’ was clustered by both news and current affair related channels, rather than by entertainment related channels.
