A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SOUTH KOREA’S AND COLOMBIA’S PUBLIC DIPLOMACY STRATEGY TOWARDS EACH OTHER

Abstract

This research seeks, through an analysis of the foreign policy of The Republic of South Korea to Colombia, and the Republic of Colombia to South Korea in the period from 2000 to 2020, to determine the extent and the differences between both countries’ public diplomacy strategies which have been developed for the strengthening of the bilateral relations. The research aims to understand and analyze the approach to public diplomacy of both countries, with special emphasis on cultural diplomacy, as well as determining the most effective strategy through a comparative methodology that will include the use of primary and secondary sources by conducting two surveys, interviews, and content analysis. This research is a comparative case study that involves mixed methods as it is both qualitative and quantitative.|이 연구는 2000년부터 2020년까지 콜롬비아에 대한 대한민국, 콜롬비아에 대한 한국과의 외교정책 분석을 통해 양국 관계 강화를 위해 개발해온 양국의 공공외교 전략의 범위와 차이점을 규명하고자 한다. 이 연구는 문화외교를 중심으로 양국의 공공외교에 대한 접근 방식을 이해하고 분석하는 것은 물론, 두 차례의 조사·면접·콘텐츠 분석을 통해 1차·2차 소스 활용이 포함될 비교 방법론을 통해 가장 효과적인 전략을 결정하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이 연구는 질적 연구와 양적 모두를 가지고 있기 때문에 혼합된 방법을 포함하는 비교 사례 연구이다.
