칼 라이네케 플루트 소나타 "운디네" Op.167의 작품 분석

Abstract

본 논문은 칼 라이네케(Carl Heinrich Carsten Reinecke, 1824-1910)가 소설 “운디네”의 내용을 어떠한 방식으로 <플루트 소나타 Op. 167 “운디네”>(Flute Sonata Op. 167 “Undine”)로 표현했는지 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 칼 라이네케는 후기 낭만주의 시대부터 신고전주의 시대까지 활동한 인물로 독일을 대표하는 작곡가 중 한 명이다. 라이네케의 작품 <플루트 소나타 “운디네” Op. 167>는 1882년에 작곡되었으며, 푸케(Friedrich de la Motte-Fouqué, 1777-1843)의 동명 소설에서 착안된 표제음악이다. 이 곡은 낭만주의 시대의 플루트 레퍼토리 안에서 대표적인 작품 중 하나로 꼽힌다. 푸케의 소설 “운디네”는 물의 요정 운디네가 인간과 사랑에 빠져 영혼을 얻게 되지만 사랑했던 연인으로부터 배신을 당해 배신한 그의 영혼을 빼앗고 자신도 그 옆의 시냇물이 되는 내용이다. <플루트 소나타 “운디네” Op. 167>는 전체 4악장으로 구성되며 각 악장별로 소설의 내용이 음악적으로 반영되어 나타나는 것이 특징이다. 1악장은 소나타 형식, 2악장은 론도 형식, 3악장, 4악장은 복합 3부 형식으로 되어있다. 소설의 내용을 기반으로 악장의 음악적인 분위기가 진행된다. 라이네케는 소설의 배경이 되는 분위기 혹은 등장인물과 중요 사건을 음악적으로 표현해내고 있다. 1악장의 플루트 선율은 잔잔한 호수의 물결을 표현하며, 어린아이같이 천진난만하고 아름다운 운디네의 모습을 표현한다. 피아노의 선율은 고요하고 깊은 호수의 모습을 묘사하고 있다. 2악장에서는 운디네의 발랄하고 사랑스러운 모습을 묘사하고 있고 사랑에 빠진 운디네와 훌트브란트의 설렘을 묘사한다. 3악장의 운디네는 침착하고 조신한 속 깊은 여인의 모습으로 표현한다. 마지막 4악장은 운디네가 조용한 샘물로 돌아가는 장면으로 묘사된다. 낭만주의 시대 표제음악은 문학과 깊은 연관성을 가지고 있으므로 칼 라이네케의 <플루트 소나타 “운디네” Op. 167>의 심층적인 해석을 위해서는 작곡가가 영감을 받은 소설 운디네를 이해하는 과정이 필요하다. 즉, 운디네 전반의 줄거리와 등장인물의 성격을 상세히 파악한 후 이것이 작품에 어떻게 표현되고 있는지를 이해하는 것으로써 연주자들에게 작품에 대한 심층적 이해와 설득력 있는 연주를 가능하게 한다.|The purpose of this study is to analyze how Carl Heinrich Carsten Reinecke (1824-1910) described the novel “Undine” into his Flute Sonata “Undine” Op. 167. Carl Reinecke was one of well-known German composers, active from late Romantic period to Neoclassical period. He composed Flute Sonata “Undine” Op. 167 in 1882, and it is a program music of the novel of the same name by Friedrich de la Motte-Fouqué(1777-1843). This piece is one of the most famous repertoires for flute in Romantic period. The story of novel “Undine” by Fouqué is that Undine, the water fairy, fell in love with human and gained a soul, but she was betrayed by her lover and took her soul away, so finally she becomes a stream. Flute Sonata “Undine” Op. 167 is composed of total 4 movements, and each movement reflects the stories the novel into music. The first movement is sonata form, the second movement is rondo form, and the third and fourth movements are compound ternary form. Each movement - 73 - shows the moods based on the story of the novel. Reinecke expresses each movement, character, and important event in the novel by music. The flute melody in the first movement expresses the calm waves of the lake and Undine which has a pure and beautiful image, while the melody of the piano describes a calm and deep lake. The second movement depicts lovely and bright Undine and the love with Holtbrandt and its feeling. The third movement expresses Undine as a calm and self-conscious woman. The fourth movement describes the scene when Undine goes back to a silent stream. A program in Romantic period has close association with literature, so in order to interpret more deeply Sonata for Flute by Carl Reinecke, it needs to understand Undine that he was impressed.
