Abstract
The kinetics of the thermal decomposition of polypropylene (PP) for combustion was studied by a conventional thermogravimetric technique in pure nitrogen and various concentrations of oxygen with 5-21 %. The kinetic model which accounts for the effects of oxygen concentration was proposed to describe the thermal decomposition of PP. The activation energy, the pre-exponential factor, and the reaction order for unreacted material and oxygen concentration have been determined.
