dc.description.abstract | This paper compares four text types, personal letters, newspaper articles, newspaper editorials, and the abstracts of academic texts to see differences between genres in terms of subject-deletion in Korean. It demonstrates boht similarities and differences in the frequency of the subject deletion, the types of deleted subject, and the relationship between a deleted subject and a discourse topic across genres. Those similarities and differences resulted from teh reader/writer interaction, shared knowledge, and reader/writer responsibility for communication. | en_US |
