dc.description.abstractExtensive research is in progress to reduce both NOx and PM emissions from diesel engines due to environmental concerns. One of the emission reduction technologies is the high pressure common rail type injector. However, it is well known that it is difficult to reduce both NOx and PM production simultaneously by this injector. Recently, the high-pressure multiple injection can be effective to reduce both formation. Therefore, a studies about the injection rates are essentially needed in order to develop the common rail type high-pressure injector. Accordingly. in this study, injection rate meter which can be used to measure the injection rate of pilot injection is developed and the result obtained by this equipment compared with the traditional injection rate meter. From the results of the comparison, we found that the developed injection meter has the reliability. In addition, investigations on the injection rate characteristics of a common rail injector with various conditions were performed.en_US
