생산 경쟁능력 측정 모델의 비교

Abstract

Production competence models have been proposed and empirically tested by many researchers. Although these models are credited with making significant contributions to the field of operations, they are not without shortcomings. Unfortunately, there are many questions to be answered regarding their use of measures or validation processes. This study proposes a new production competence measurement model (GAP model) based on the notion that both the over- or under-allocation of resources to strategically important competitive priorities (referred to as the allocation gap) will surely weaken production competitiveness of a firm. Compared to the VDM model (proposed by Vickery, Droge and Markland) and the KA model (Kim and Arnold), the new model performs better, in terms of discriminating well-performing companies from lagging ones. 최근 생산 경쟁능력 모델은 많은 연구자들의 관심대상이 되어 실증적인 탐구가 행해지고 있다. 그러나 아직 여러 가지 측면에서 보완할 점을 남기고 있는 것이 주지의 사실이다. 특히 생산 경쟁능력의 구체적인 측정에 관한 부분은 여러 연구에도 불구하고 명확한 실무적인 지침을 제공하지 못하고 있는 실정에 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 GAP모델이라고 명명한 새로운 생산 경쟁능력 측정 모델을 제안하고자 한다. 이 모델은 전략적으로 중요한 경쟁우선순위에 자원을 할당할 경우 과거의 통념과는 달리 과부족이나 과다 할당 모두가 생산 경쟁능력에 부정적인 영향을 준다는 인식에 바탕을 두고 있다. 어느 경우에도 할당 갭(gap)은 바람직하지 않다는 것이다. 실증적인 조사자료를 대상으로 기존의 VDM 모델 및 KA 모델과 본 연구가 제안한 GAP모델을 비교해본 결과 GAP모델이 성과가 우수한 기업집단과 그렇지 않은 집단을 보다 효과적으로 판별할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.
