Abstract

In the modem age, minimalism has come to influence various industries, particularly the fashion industry. This research studied the influence of formative property of minimalism on materials and colors in fashion. The result is as follows. The influence of minimalism in the 1960s on modem fashion materials included systematic repetition, overall unification and simplicity. Mat and simple-touch fabrics were used in fashion. The transparency, translucency and extension materials were also used to show the human body because the materials were better suited in demonstrating a minimalist expression. Also, as a fashion color, they used solid colors, pastel tones, and the color of the material itself to demonstrate a minimalist expression. Meanwhile, during the post-minimalist period of the 1990s, fashion designers applied the effects of luster, transparency, and light to heighten the sense of sight. But they maintained the beauty of simple form and colors that werepursued by early minimalism.
