리하르트 슈트라우스의『네 개의 마지막 노래』 연주를 위한 연구

Abstract

리하르트 슈트라우스(Richard Strauss, 1864-1949)의 대부분의 가곡들은 후기 낭만주의의 양식인 장대하고 복잡한 형식, 그리고 표제적인 성격을 지니고 있으며, 좁은 공간에서 소규모로 연주될 수 있는 곡들이라기보다는 많은 대중 앞에서 연주되어지는 '무대음악'(Podiumliede)이라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 연구한 『네 개의 마지막 노래』(Vier letzte Lieder) 또한 이러한 슈트라우스의 일반적인 특징을 잘 보여주고 있다. 더불어 그의 삶의 결정체라고 할 수 있을 만큼 아름답고, 진지하며, 조화롭게 작곡되어서, 변화와 질고의 시대를 살았던 작곡가의 생애를 마무리 하는 평온한 곡이다. 이 곡을 연주하기 위해 연주자는 독일 예술가곡에 있어 시와 음악의 관계를 정확하게 이해하여야 한다. 이를 위해 아이헨도르프와 헤르만 헷세의 시를 분석 연구함으로써 슈트라우스가 그 시들을 본 작품 속에서 어떻게 표현하려고 했는지, 어떻게 음악적으로 시어들이 적용되고 있는지, 그리고 그러한 내용을 연주할 때 구체적으로 필요한 독일어 딕션과 발성적 테크닉에 대하여 연구하여, 실제 연주시 효적으로 연주하는 방법을 제시하였다.; Most of the Lieder of Richard Strauss possess es the grand and complex structure and programmatic character of the late Romantic period, and they are Podiumliede(stage music) meant to be performed in the presence of a large audience, instead of being intended to be played as small scale chamber music. Strauss' Vier letzte Lieder(Four Last Songs), which is the main topic of this paper, clearly displays these general characteristics of Strauss' Lieder. In addition, this piece, was composed so beautifully, sincerely and harmoniously that it can be said to be the essence work of his life. thus it is a peaceful piece that concludes the life of a composer in an age of transition and turmoil. In order to properly perform this piece, the musician must have a precise understanding of the relationship between poetry and music in the German art song. Therefore, this paper attempts to make an analytical study of the poetry of Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff and Herman Hesse so that it can be seen how Strauss expressed their poetry in this piece, and through what methods he adapted their poetic language musically. further study is made of the specific techniques required in the diction and phonation of the German language to bring out this content, and finally, it is specified how to effectively play this piece in actual performance.
