UCC 서버를 위한 하드 디스크 개발

Abstract

인터넷의 발전에 따라서 손수 제작물(User Generated Contents 또는 User Created Contents - 이하 UCC)을 인터넷을 통해 타인에게 공유하는 일이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. UCC를 제공하는 서버측 입장에서는 용량적 부족 문제뿐만 아니라 디스크의 과부하에 따른 대역폭의 문제 또한 심각하다. 본 논문에서는, 1) UCC의 특징을 분석하고, 2) UCC 서버 디스크에 적합한 익스텐트 크기를 추출하며, 3) 익스텐트를 트랙에 정렬하여 전송시간에 대한 과부하를 감소시키는 방법을 제시한다. 제시된 방법에 따라서 하드 디스크 시뮬레이션 환경에서 약 7%정도의 성능향상을 보였다. 이에 대한 효과는 서버의 디스크당 지원 가능한 접속 사용자수를 증가시킬 수 있었다.; As sharing user created content through the Internet has been more common by the help of advanced Internet technology, the server which provides user created content needs more storage and larger bandwidth to serve vastly increasing number of user created content. We describe 1) the characteristic of user created content, 2) the appropriate extent size of user created content for server disk, and 3) the method to reduce the time for data transfer based on extent based track alignment. We have found that the data transfer time is improved by seven percent by using our method and we can also increase the number of users supported by a hard disk.
