Abstract
There are many factors influencing the Radio frequency identification (RFID)system performance. Among these factors, the multipath fading and noise effect are two important reasons which have a close relationship with the power transmission and anti-collision performance of RFID system. Recently much research work has been done about the evaluation of the anti-collision performance of RFID system. However, among the most work done, the multipath fading and noise influence is not emphasized in the evaluation process. They play a so important role that could cause big difference in condition of ideal and practical environment. In this paper, we focus on these two factors, investigating and analyzing their influences on the multi-tag identification performance. By simulating the RFID EPC Gen2 anti-collision algorithm according to the tag location and SNR level in Matlab environment, we observed that in room of width 10m height 6m with SNR=7dB AWGN channel environment, when identifying 100 tags under the identification distance is 5m, the multipath effect causes about 188080 ms more time spent than the ideal environment without multipath effect considered.
