- Abstract
- Modern lighting control provides a multitude of benefits, ranging from energy and cost savings, and reduction in electrical demand, to increased worker productivity and an improved lighted environment. Characteristics of Zigbee technology and analysis of the structure of wireless sensor networks, here proposed WSN based lighting control system for home and building. Wireless sensors nodes are responsible for measuring current illuminations. Two kinds of lighting devices, namely direct lighting devices and artificial lighting device, are used to provide illuminance level maintaining and day light modelling, respectively. We consider computational and communication power of Zigbee nodes and propose WSN based decision algorithm to determine desired illumination level to achieve energy savings. First we model the lighting control problem. Second, we translate the lighting control problem to linear programming problem. Third, we implement the linear programming problem using Simplex algorithm in Matlab.
