Abstract
Due to the advancement of the material for the permanent magnet today, many devices that are used in the industries use the excitation method of the permanent magnet to obtain high efficiency and high output density. However, it is difficult for the permanent magnet device's flux control capability to yield better performance compared to the DC excitation method[1]. Moreover, DC excitation method facilitates flux control, more so than the permanent magnet's excitation method, but a disadvantage is decrease in the efficiency. Accordingly, it is possible to expect increase in the flux control capability and efficiency when the mixed excitation method that uses both the permanent magnet's excitation method and DC excitation method is used. In general, permanent magnet or DC field current is attached on the motor's rotor, which restricts motor's high speed rotation, and it is disadvantageous for the exothermic reaction. Another disadvantage includes is the need to add on brush and others. Thus, when permanent magnet or DC field winding is inserted into the stator, rotor's structure becomes increasingly simpler. In addition, permanent magnet's temperature control also is facilitated. Accordingly, this research conducted comparative analysis using finite element analysis for the characteristics of speed?|torque and efficiency and proposed each motor's domain for optimal operation when it comes to the Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Motor(DSPMM) that attached the permanent magnet to the stator of the 12/8 pole Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM), Brushless Doubly Fed Doubly Salient Motor(BDFDSM) that attached the DC field winding, and the Hybrid Excited Doubly Salient Motor(HEDSM) that attached the permanent magnet and all the DC field winding.
