Abstract
Recently, vehicles equipped with power steering have came into widespread use. Most power steering systems are hydraulically power assisted. However, the fuel consumption of vehicles equipped with a hydraulic power-steering system is worse than that of manual steering systems because oil pressure must be continuously boosted. EPS systems are on-demand systems that operate only when the driver requires. Hence, using EPS enables us to improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions. This has encouraged the present great increase in equipped vehicles. Nowadays, mainly used motor for use of the EPS is the BLDC motor. But this motor weak to heat for that has permanent magnet. Therefore BLDC motor needs a temperature compensation device. It causes price increase. Therefore this paper presents Synchronous Reluctance motor and designs it for use of the EPS motor. And general high torque ripple is reduced by optimum design. This motor has not any permanent magnet in the rotor but only core. This point harden to heat so it needs not a temperature compensation device. And generally speed control of SynRM uses the current magnitude control. But this control method follows the order slowly. Therefore this paper brings in current phase control for fast following and torque ripple reduction.
