Abstract

The greater downtown - neighborhood of Gwanghamun, particularly the one north of Sa-jik-ro and west of Gyeongbok-gung_palace and Hyo-ja-ro, has visibly been going though some remarkable changes throughout the past five years. Existing functional clusters of residential-housing and commercial purpose, as well as those of government. A community of creative professionals and entrepreneurs have upstarted their studios and ateliers, their showroom-shops, bookstores, galleries and café ’s.., thus feeding into the area a substantial upgrade of atmospheric quality.

None of this has yet been guided and investigated by architectural thought or a masterminding and landscripting urban plan..; it seems appropriate to explore the neighborhood’s ratio of socio-economic potential.., and to substantiate the community’s potential for a mixed-use functional programme.., which embraces the ideas of urbanity, of communal identity and lingual landscape_cityscape culturescape
